Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey of Households in Ukraine, 2025-2026

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine, together with the Mykhailo Ptoukha Institute for Demography and Life Quality Research of the NAS of Ukraine and the NGO Ukrainian Center for Social Reforms, with support from UNICEF in Ukraine, has launched the next round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey of Households in Ukraine (MICS), which is scheduled to be organised and conducted during 2025-2026.

MICS is a sample household survey conducted in accordance with international methodology. It provides reliable data for monitoring the situation of children and women in the areas of health, education, safety, nutrition, water supply, and sanitation.

In addition, MICS is an instrument for collecting and producing data to assess progress towards national goals and international commitments, including those defined by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The survey results will provide an evidence base for developing more effective and targeted policies and initiatives aimed at addressing the needs of children and families.

The study will cover all non-institutional households in Ukraine and the persons living in them, except households and persons residing in combat zones and frontline territories.

Main Stages of the Survey

  • Household listing during July-September 2025. This stage will provide updated data on the location and composition of households and will make it possible to form a representative sample for MICS.
  • Household interviews and fieldwork during September 2025-February 2026. The anonymity and confidentiality of all responses are guaranteed, and the results will be analysed and presented only in aggregated form.

Important Notice

Representatives of the NGO Ukrainian Center for Social Reforms who conduct household listing and interviews will wear clothing marked with MICS. They will carry copies of the survey notification letters, interviewer identification, and personal identity documents.
